<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the information quantity of a picture signal by specifying the ratio of signal quantity between the color difference signal of a blue component and the color difference signal of a red component, and in addition, shifting the sampling positions of two color difference signals by one sampling frequency portion of the brightness signal. CONSTITUTION:In the case where picture information is compressed and transmitted and stored by using the brightness signal Y, the color difference signal C<b> of the blue component for the brightness signal Y and the color difference signal C<r> or the red component for the same, signal constitution ratio is made into Y:C<b>:C<r>=4:1:1 by making the sampling frequencies of the color difference signals C<b> and C<r> at the time of picture scanning into 1/2 of the sampling frequency of the brightness signal in both a main scanning direction and a subscanning direction. Besides, the color difference signal C<b> and the color difference signal C<r> are scanned as shifting their sampling positions each other, for instance, in the subscanning direction by one sampling period portion of the brightness signal Y. Thus, in the forestage of picture information compression, favorable picture processing not accompanied with the deterioration of picture quality becomes possible.</p> |
