An improved float 1 is described, essentially comprising a tubular body with an axial hole 2 and capable of moving along a guide 3 of a measurement device and carrying on an upper face an electrical contact element 4. The latter essentially consists of a ring 11, at the outer edge of which extend two diametrically opposite arms 14 which are folded into a V, and are housed along the aforementioned hole 2 and have their own free end folded into a U, these constituting runners 5 which rub, during operation, on a resistive wire wound on the guide 3. <IMAGE>
