PURPOSE: To obtain a formulation useful for treating tumors involved in viral infection or virus, comprising AZT or ribavirin and dideoxycarbocyclic nucleoside. CONSTITUTION: This formulation is a combination of (A) a 1st antiviral compound of the formula (X is H, NRR<1> , SR, OR or a halogen; Z is H, OR<2> or NRR<1> ; R, R<1> and R<2> are each H, a 1-4C alkyl or aryl) or pharmaceutically permissible derivative therefrom, e.g. (1α,4α)-4-(2-amino-6-hydroxy-9H-purin-9-yl)-2- cyclopentenyl carbinol with (B) a 2nd antiviral compound selected from the group consisting of 3'-azido-3'-deoxythymidine, ribavirin, 3'-azido-2',3'- dideoxyuridine and 2',3'-dideoxy-2',3'-didehydrothymidine in the weight ratio of (20:1) to (1:20), esp. (3:1) to (1:3). Preferably the dose of this formulation is such one as to be 1-75 (esp. 3-30)μM in each plasma level for the ingredients A and B. |
