PURPOSE:To obtain the pictures of high quality by carrying out simultaneously both a line pattern picture process and a pseudo halftone picture process to the input picture data and selecting one of results of both picture processes in accordance with the picture areas. CONSTITUTION:The input binary picture data are stored by a picture data temporary storage part 200 in an amount equivalent to the number of necessary scan lines. A gradation picture process part 300 carries out various picture processes to the binary pictures in a system suited to a pseudo halftone picture. A line pattern picture process part 500 applies the affine conversion to the binary pictures in terms of magnification, reduction, rotation, etc., in a system suited to the line patterns like characters, etc. An area deciding part 700 decides whether each point of an output picture belongs to a pseudo halftone picture or a line pattern. A selector 900 selects and outputs the output of the part 300 or the output of the part 500 based on the output of the part 700. In such a way, a process suited to an input picture is carried out and the pictures of high quality can be obtained. |
