Print material quality monitor - uses light barriers on evaluation circuits to detect edges of material during transportation in machine

The arrangement determines the quality of the printing material by detecting the edges of the material and the print surface using optical sensors. An optical sensor system consists of at least two reflection light barriers associated with the sides of the printing surface. Each barrier has a source and receiver with facing input and output surfaces respectively. Each has an evaluation circuit which detects the presence of the edge of the printing material by evaluating the signal from the receiver. USE/ADVANTAGE - For determining quality of printing material during transportation through printer or other processing machine, esp. in folding machine. Prevents production of low quality blocks of paper by enabling dynamic monitoring of quality of material before processing.
