To increase the service life of cylindrical and spherical bearings which are intended to transmit forces in dirty operating conditions and/or in abrasive material to be conveyed, with little or no maintenance, even under shock loads and alternating loads, one bearing part is formed from forged or cast austenitic manganese steel and the other from hardened steel of high tensile strength. The bearing part composed of austenitic manganese steel can be provided with solid lubricant encapsulated at the sliding surface.
