PURPOSE:To obtain the magnetic recording medium which has excellent wear resistance and durability and exhibits good magnetic characteristics by forming a lubricant film of at least one kind of higher alcohols. CONSTITUTION:The lubricant film is formed of at least one kind of the higher alcohol. This lubricant film is the higher alcohol and is generally expressed by ROH, where R is a group contg. >=10C hydrocarbon. The hydroxyl group of this higher alcohol is bonded by Van der Waals force to a carbonyl group, ether group and hydroxyl group which are the polar groups on the surface of a plasma-polymerized protective film and, therefore, the higher alcohol exhibits a good property to be adhered. Since the concn. of the lubricant film is low and is treated for a relatively long period of time, the extremely uniform film thickness is obtd. and the sufficient durability, etc., are exhibited even with the thin film. |
