PURPOSE:To improve welding strength by providing a pair of the roller sand- paper wheels interposing the superposing part of a metal strip at the front side in the welding progressing direction of an electrode roller, and polishing the both faces of the superposing part prior to welding. CONSTITUTION:The rear end part of a preceding strip and the tip part of the succeeding strip are superposed, the superposed part L thereof is interposed by a pair of electrode rollers 1 and a swaging roller 2 and subjected to seam welding in the strip width direction. At the front side in the welding progressing direction of the electrode 1, a pair of roller sand-paper wheels 3 cable of interposing the superposed part L from the upper and lower parts are provided. The upper and lower faces of the superposed part L are polished by this sand- paper wheels 3 and subjected to seam welding after the oxide film, rust, etc., have been removed. By this structure polishing can automatically be done at the welding fore step and the welding strength is improved. |
