PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration and to extend the service life by applying a water-repellent process to a part of the end and the base, while applying a non-water-repellent process to the rib and impregnating and holding phosphoric acid in the part. CONSTITUTION:In a basic material 17, ribs 17B and grooves 17A to pass a fuel gas are provided, while parts 20 where a water-repellent process is applied to pass the fuel gas, and parts 21 where a non-water-repellent process is applied to allow to impregnate and hold phosphoric acid to be the electrolyte but to reject the fuel gas flow are arranged alternatively. While flowing through the grooves 17A, the fuel gas passes through the parts 20 the water-repellent process is applied and enters in the matrix to operate an electric reaction. Since the basic material (the base) at the bases of the ribs 17B is processed non-water- repellent, the phosphoric acid impregnated and held in the ribs 17B enters the matrix from the non-water-repellent processed parts at the bases of the ribs 17B and feeds the phosphoric acid of the matrix. Since the phosphoric acid is impregnated in the parts, no fuel gas flows through the parts. |
