The invention relates to a method for the recording and reproduction of an analog and a digital optical sound on a photographic recording medium, in particular a cine film, and can be used in cinematography and sound recording and reproduction technology. The method describes the recording of a combined analog and digital optical sound on an optical soundtrack (2) with compatible properties, the digital sound being arranged on a half-track (5) and the analog sound being formed as a digitally-coded representation of the discrete-time value of the analog signal over the complete width of the optical soundtrack (2).
