PURPOSE:To obtain a roll material having excellent wear resistance and resistance to roughening of surface and furthermore effective for seizure resistance by subjecting ferrous alloy powder contg. specific amounts of C and Cr and contg, M7C3 carbide to hot isostatic pressure treatment. CONSTITUTION:The power of an ferrous alloy contg. 1 to 4% C and 5 to 25% Cr and contg. M7C3 carbide is subjected to hot isostatic pressure treatment to form a roll material. Or, one or more kinds among the carbide of W, V, Nb, Mo and Ti or Ti nitride are furthermore mixed to the ferrous powder, and the mixture is subjected to hot isostatic pressure treatment. The roll material has excellent wear resistance, and, owing to the grain refining of the structure, has improve resistance to roughening of surface and seizure resistance. In this way, the service life of a work roll in hot rolling can be improved. Furthermore, high-load rolling is attained and a rolled material of good quality can be obtd. |
