PURPOSE:To improve the conformability of mutually overlapping surfaces between individual constitution parts, stabilize the quality of products, and improve self- discharge characteristics by a method wherein, before a voltage higher than the working voltage is applied to an electric double layer capacitor formed by laminating a plurality of elements, heat treatment is performed for a specified period. CONSTITUTION:A lot of electric double layer capacitors 1 wherein assembling has been finished are arranged flatly in a vessel 2 so as not to overlap with each other; a plurality of these stages are stacked and put into a heating furnace: heat treatment is performed for a specified period; the set temperature is 60-100 deg.C, and the heating period is 8-48 HR; temperature irregularity in the heating furnace is restricted within + or -5 deg.C of the set temperature. After the heat treatment, a voltage higher than the working voltage is applied to the electric double layer capacitor 1 in the following manner; the electric double layer capacitor 1 is connected in series with a power supply 3 and a protective resistor 4, and then a voltage, e.g., 7.0V, is applied at 40-80 deg.C for 1-4HR. When the conformability of mutually overlapping surfaces of constitution parts is improved by performing heat treatment before a voltage is applied, resistance, capacitance and self-discharge characteristics under a voltage can be improved. |
