<p>PURPOSE:To crush waste cells so as to dispose of them safely and efficiently by immersing the waste cells in conductive solution in which chloride of alkali metals is dissolved, immersing them in metal corrosive solution thereafter, and thereby disposing of them by means of a crusher. CONSTITUTION:Two hundred cells such as waste thionyl chloride lithium cells are immersed in conductive solution at ambient temperature for a week. And self-discharge is induced in each waste cell by conductive solution so that lithium negative electrode remaining in an unreacted condition completly reacts. Then, the waste cells are taken out of conductive solution so as to have conductive solution on the surface of the cells cleaned, they are immersed for three days in the volume of 10 liters of metal corrosive solution composed of aqueous solution in which 37% ferric chloride by weight is dissolved. The containers made of stainless steel of the waste cells are oxidized by metal corrosive solution so that they are corroded so as to be deteriorated. Following which, the waste cells are taken out of metal corrosive solution, they are completely crushed by disposing of them for 10 minutes using a hammer crusher.</p> |
