PURPOSE:To obtain a water stopping tape with an excellent water stopping effect over a long period by coating a water absorbing paint made of powder/ granular water absorbing resin, a binder, and short synthetic fibers on the faces of a synthetic resin film or the like. CONSTITUTION:A water absorbing layer 5 is coated on both faces of a fabric or nonwoven fabric sheet 4 made of a synthetic resin film or synthetic fibers, and the water absorbing layer 5 is constituted of powder or granular microorganism-nondecomposing water absorbing resin 1, short synthetic fibers 2 and a binder 3. The water absorbing layer 5 of the water stopping tape for a cable contains synthetic resin short fibers 2 in addition to the water absorbing resin powder 1 and the binder 2, thus it is very bulky for the same stuck quantity and thick and flexible, and it contains conduits formed by the short fibers 2 in the water absorbing layer as it is bulky. When water infiltrates into the cable, the whole water absorbing layer instantly absorbs water and is swollen, and the water entering in the longitudinal direction and the inner direction of the cable is stopped only near the infiltration position of water. |
