摘要 PURPOSE:To decompose gaseous trichlorofluoromethane into carbon dioxide through carbon tetrachloride and dichlorofluoromethane by disproportionation and decomposition reactions by bringing the trichlorofluoromethane into contact with titanium dioxide. CONSTITUTION:Titanium dioxide is heated at about 100-500 deg.C in dry air, evacuation is carried out at about 100-500 deg.C and the calcined titanium dioxide is stored in vacuum or in a dry atmosphere. Gaseous trichlorofluoromethane is brought into contact with the calcined titanium dioxide as a catalyst optionally under irradiation with light having about <=400nm wavelength. Carbon tetrachloride and dichlorofluoromethane are produced by a disproportionation reaction and the trichlorofluoromethane can be decomposed into carbon dioxide through the carbon tetrachloride, etc. The catalyst for disproportionation and decomposition reactions of chlorofluoromethane is suitable for use as a catalyst for removal of chlorofluoromethane.
