PURPOSE: To simplify discharge of generated water by discharging moisture to be generated on a porous carbon paper sheet adjacent to a cathode surface of a solid polymer electrolytic thin film to the outside of a battery through a porous gas seal and a passage, and also to prevent leakage of reaction gas. CONSTITUTION: A porous waterproof carbon paper sheet 66 is arranged between a cathode surface of a thin film 64 and a cathode plate 18. In the waterproof carbon paper sheet 66, many inner water passages 68 are formed by pressure of water to be generated on the cathode surface of the thin film 64. Accordingly, water is discharged from the cathode surface of the thin film 64 to a flat surface part 17 formed on the cathode plate 18 through the passages 68. The carbon paper sheet 66 is provided with porosity. Accordingly, generated water is allowed to flow through the carbon paper sheet 66 in the cathode plate direction, oxygen gas is allowed to flow through the carbon paper sheet in the opposite direction to that of the generated water. The generated water is absorbed from the carbon paper sheet 66 into the plate 18 through the flat surface part 17 and then discharged to the outside through the plate 18 by compressed oxygen in the gas flowing range. |
