PURPOSE:To realize the switching from an active line to a standby line with no-hit in the unit of a line or a transmission line by allowing a sender side equipment to branch an information string of an active line or transmission line to a standby line or transmission line and to transmit it in parallel at switching and disconnecting the active line or transmission line after the end of switching at a receiver side equipment. CONSTITUTION:A changeover switch CSW 39 of a line or a transmission line of a sender side equipment 1 branches an information string of an active line (transmission line) 40 to a standby line transmission line) 41 by the control of a control circuit CT 50a and transmits it in parallel. An idle cell detection circuit CD 42 of a receiver side equipment 4 detects an idle cell in a received information string to eliminate an idle cell from the received information string and writes a real cell to a buffer memory BUF 44 by using a write clock 43. Then the quantity of delay of each buffer memory buffer BUF 44 is adjusted so that bits of the output of two buffer memories BUF 44 are coincident with each other and when they are coincident, the changeover switch CSW 48 switches the line or transmission line.
