SHEET-LIKE DEOXIDIZING AGENT

PURPOSE:To provide the subject deoxidizing agent having a high deoxidizing rate and a large oxygen-absorbing capacity and useful for preserving foods, by disposing a deoxidizing agent main material consisting essentially of iron powder and a metal halide an a sticking material between two sheet-like surface materials and thermally melt-bonding the materials. CONSTITUTION:(A) A deoxidizing main agent consisting essentially of (i) iron powder and (ii) a metal halide and (B) a sticking material comprising (iii) a natural or synthetic fibers and (iv) thermally meltable fibers or resin powder are placed between (C) two sheet-like surface materials and heat-pressed to provide the thermally melt-bonded deoxidizing agent. The obtained deoxidizing agent is preferably covered and adhered with a covering material fro both the sides thereof or received in a bag formed on the covering material.
