PURPOSE:To realize a large pressure loss in the heat exchanger of exhaust gas and to unify the heat exchanging operation in a compact system by combining an engine muffler and the fluidized bed type heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust gas (a) from an engine descends inside the engine muffler 2 which is installed vertically, changes its flowing direction by 180 deg. within a wind box 7, and finally flows into the fluidized bed heat exchanger 3. The fluidized bed heat exchanger 3 comprises a doughnut-shaped distributor 4, a heat transmission tube 6 spirally wound around the muffler coaxially therewith, and particles 5 which embeds the heat transmission tube 6. Thus, the major part of the function of the muffler 2 is transferred to the fluidized bed heat exchanger 3, thereby simplifying the inside structure of the muffler without degrading the noise supressing effect, or such a large amount of pressure loss as has not been expected can be realized by the heat exchanger 3. |
