The electronic typewriter has the function that prints the input character and operates a center lineup operation when a character has already been input on a same line before operating a center lineup operation. The electronic typewriter includes CPU (1) for comparing input data by a program, an address latch (2) for latching a designated address signal, a ram (3) for storing a text, PROM (4) for storing a program, an address decoder (5) for generating a select signal for each memory and peripheral controllers, controllers (6,7) for controlling a display device (9) and a keyboard (10), and a print driver for driving a printer.
