PURPOSE:To enable formation of a clear color tone image with favorable recording sensitivity and with little color mixing or bleeding by incorporating a salt of a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer in an intermediate layer as a dispersant for a decoloring agent. CONSTITUTION:A high temperature color forming layer, an intermediate layer comprising a basic decoloring agent and a low temperature color forming layer are sequentially provided on a support. This is a two-color thermal recording material in which each of the color forming layers is a leuco color forming layer comprising a leuco dye and a color reaction agent, with the intermediate layer comprising a salt of a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer as a dispersant for the decoloring agent. Each of coating liquids for forming the color forming layers and the intermediate layer is generally prepared by using water as a dispersing medium and using an appropriate agitator or grinder such as a ball mill, an attritor and a sand mill. Each of the layers is formed by, for example, a method in which the coating liquid is applied to the support by air-knife coating, blade coating or the like, followed by drying. |
