摘要 PURPOSE:To remarkably reduce the welding cost by bending the ends of sheet metals to abut these on each other and using electrode rolls having thick walls and the R- shaped peripheral contact surfaces to perform intermittent seam welding. CONSTITUTION:The Ti face material ends are bent with the same height upward and these bends 13a and 14a are sandwiched between the electrode rolls 8 of a seam welding machine and the electrode rolls are energized and rotated to perform seam welding. The electrode rolls 8 are cooled by a water-cooling jacket 8a and a high current can be carried thereto. When the wall thickness of the electrode rolls 8 is below 10 times as much as the face material thickness, the area for heat conductivity is short and when the wall thickness of the electrode rolls is above 50 times as much as the face material thickness, a heat loss increases. When the R radius of the peripheral surface of the electrode rolls 8 is below 50 times as much as the face material thickness, impression becomes deep too much and in addition, when the R radius of the peripheral surface of the electrode rolls is above 100 times as much as the face material thickness, bearing of a weld zone becomes short. The seam welding process instead of inert gas arc welding process can be established and the welding cost can be remarkably reduced.
