The present invention relates to a union for pipes including a male body 9 and a female body 8, it being possible for the male body 9 to be blocked inside the female body 8 by means of a set of balls 6 which engage in an annular groove 19 of the part 8b of the male body which is inserted inside the female body. The balls 6 are controlled by an actuating sleeve 1 which balls include a first position in which the balls are held in their internal position engaging in the groove 19 of the male body 9 as well as a second position allowing the balls to be pushed radially outwards in order to free the groove 19 of the male body. The actuating sleeve which is urged towards its first position by a spring may be held in its second position by a temporary blocking means in order to facilitate the manipulation of the union just with one hand when connecting or disengaging male 9 and female 8 bodies. <IMAGE>
