PURPOSE:To obtain black AlN sintered compact having high thermal conductivity and high electrical insulating properties by adding a prescribed amount of Ti compound and/or Zr compound to a AlN sintering raw material containing an alkaline earth metal and/or rare metal compound as a sintering auxiliary agent and molding and calcining the blend. CONSTITUTION:Ti compound such as TiO2 powder and/or Zr compound such as ZrO2 powder are added to the above-mentioned sintering auxiliary, e.g., Al sintering raw material containing Y2O3 in an amount of 0.05-1.0wt.% expressed in terms of each Ti and Zr. Then the AlN sintering raw material is blended using alumina stone and an organic binder is added thereto and the blend is molded and the resultant molded article is heated in the air atmosphere to subject the molded article to de-binder treatment and sintered in N2 atmosphere at about 1800 deg.C. Thereby the black AlN sintered compact having good heat absorbing properties and the above-mentioned characteristics is obtained. |
