PURPOSE:To suppress spark generation during the welding and improve the welding strength by providing an opening between two or more welding points on a lead terminal. CONSTITUTION:When at least one of the positive and negative electrodes of a battery 1 is joined at two or more welding points 9 to a lead terminal 2' by electric resistance welding, an opening 6 is provided between the two or more welding points 9 on the lead terminal 2'. By disposing the contact points of electrode bars 4 on both sides of the opening 6 in this manner, the distance passed through by the welding current is shorther when the current passing through the positive and negative electrode terminal plates than when the current passing through the lead terminal so that the welding current shunt phenomenon in the lead terminal can be reduced. Therefore, the welding current effective for welding flowing through the interfaces, between the lead terminal and the positive and negative electrode terminal plates, pressed by the electrode bars is increased so that sufficient welding strength can be obtained, and moreover the input energy for the welding can be decrease and generation and scattering of dust by the spark can be reduced. |
