The present invention relates to a shock absorbing device including a tube 10 and an elastic stop 20 placed in parallel and fixed, by one end, onto one same support 1, the elastic stop being longer than the tube in order elastically to absorb small impacts, characterised in that the elastic stop has a force transmitted-deformation curve of similar shape to that of the tube but with lower values so that in the event of significant impacts calling upon the contribution of the tube, the stop is made non-obstructing by buckling and the force transmitted by the tube is thus always greater than that transmitted by the elastic stop. <IMAGE>
