摘要 During throughflow of a flow in a heat exchanger, the flow can be cooled by being made to transfer heat to a coolant in the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is most frequently positioned horizontally and designed as an elongate hollow body containing cooling loops with a coolant or a number of shielded throughflow tubes/tube bundles surrounded by coolant, where the flow to be cooled is made to flow past the cooling loops or through the throughflow tubes/tube bundle. Supply of the flow to be cooled takes place at one end of the heat exchanger and outflow at the other end. In order to be capable of cooling two-phase flows of different compositions in the heat exchanger, it must be possible to change the liquid level in the heat exchanger. By providing the heat exchanger with a modifiable overflow function, it is possible to adapt the liquid level in the heat exchanger so that the requisite number of throughflow tubes in the tube bundle are used for throughflow and thus cooling of the liquid in the two-phase flow. On the outflow side of the heat exchanger 1, a modifiable overflow 14 can be connected to an outflow opening 11. Using a number of annular elements 15, 16, 17 which are positioned one on another around a vertically slotted tubular throughflow part 18 connected to the outflow opening 11, the liquid level can be changed in the heat exchanger, and two-phase flows of different compositions can be cooled. <IMAGE>
