PURPOSE:To accurately set a rotary reference position to enhance printing quality by setting the printing element row of a printing head in parallel to the moving direction of the printing head to determine the set position as the rotary reference position of the printing head and setting the objective constant angle of the printing head on the basis of said position. CONSTITUTION:In a serial printer having a mechanism for rotating a printing head, the printing element row of the printing head is arranged in parallel to the moving direction of the printing head in order to reduce a measuring error to perform printing and a position where the printing width thereof becomes minimum, that is the angle of inclination becomes 0 deg. with respect to the moving direction of the printing head is set to a reference angle setting position. Further, in order to shorten the rotary time in the setting of the angle of inclination of the printing head, the dimension between both ends of each printing element of the printing head is made larger than the maximum character dimension height performing magnifying printing and the reference angle position of the printing head is set so as to make the printing element group parallel to the moving direction of the printing head. By making the reference angle setting position parallel to the moving direction of the printing head, only the size of a printing width, that is, a point becoming a position where the printing width is min. may be judged at the time of the adjustment of a reference angle and the printing head can be set to the reference position accurately. |
