Process for the utilisation of steel works filter dust and similar material

Iron oxides and materials containing nonferrous heavy metal compounds, in particular wastes of metallurgical processes, such as steel works filter dusts, blast furnace dusts, red mud and the like, are treated with reducing gases at glowing temperatures. Over the time-temperature course, nonferrous heavy metal granules form which are separated off from the residual material. The iron-containing residual material is supplied to the iron or steel production, if appropriate together with steel scrap.
