Supersonic braking parachute for space transportation systems

The described supersonic braking parachute for space transportation systems can also be used at high Mach numbers, in contrast to conventional braking systems. The separation of the parachute nose after opening enables a flow in the parachute and thus prevents unacceptably high temperatures, which would lead to destruction of the parachute. The reliability of the system is not adversely affected by this.
