(1) Iodine-loaded copolymer (I) comprises a mixt. of an anhydrous, spatially crosslinked copolymer (II) and iodine; the mol. ratio of iodine to reactive gps. in (II) is (1:1):(150:1). (2) (I) produced by dehydrating (II) and mixing it with solid, finely-powdered iodine, by simple, thorough mixing in a mortar or a closed reactor, pref. under autogenous pressure in the absence of solvent, at 0-10 deg.C for a few mins. to 8 hrs. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are electrically conducting polymers. They are produced by a simple process and can be tabletted; they have good mechanical stability and good electrical conductivity (contrast prior-art charge-transfer complexes).
