An illuminated article (10) in the form of a garment or article of wearing apparel includes an electrical conductive harness mounted at predetermined locations on the outer surface of the garment. The harness (191) includes a housing (32) which waterproofingly encloses an illumination device (190), such as light emitting diode. A pair of electrical conductors (206, 208) mounted in an elongated strip (210) are connectable to the leads (196, 198) of the light emitting diode (190). In a preferred embodiment of the harness, each light emitting diode (190) and attached portions of the electrical conductors (206, 208) are inserted into a mold (250) which then has a housing (205) molded therearound to form a watertight, corrosion-free enclosure about each light emitting diode (190). |
