Impregnating oil for protecting wood - contg. lower boiling components of coal tar oil and aromatic resin

An impregnating oil for protection of wood, based on oils derived from coal tar, contains the lower and/or middle boiling portion of the coal tar oil and an aromatic resin. Pref. the ratio of components of coal tar oil:resin is 70:30-90:10. The coal tar oil component have b.pt. 180-355 deg.C. The resin is a hydrocarbon resin, esp. a coumarone-indene resin, a synthesis residue, or a mixt. of a hydrocarbon resin, coumarine-indene resin or synthesis residue. The oil may contain a biocide. ADVANTAGE - The a content of polycyclic aromatics in the oil is greatly reduced, esp. the content of benzo(a)pyrenes is below 50ppm. The oil has good long-term protective effect for wood against microorganisms and insects, and does not bleed out. The wood surface remains smooth, with pronounced grain, and the wood is water-repellent. The oil can be used on beams, masts and dikes.
