In a pull member, for example a stay cable for a cable-stayed bridge, consisting of a bundle (1) of pull elements made of steel, for protection against corrosion a band (4) of constant thickness surrounding the bundle (1) helically and functioning as a spacer is located between the bundle and a metal sheathing (7) surrounding the latter tubularly at a distance; for example for the renovation of an existing stay cable, this spacer band (4) is wound helically onto the stay cable to be renovated, and a metal band (7') is wound likewise helically, running in turns lying next to one another, onto the stay cable in order to produce the tubular sheathing (7); the longitudinal edges of adjacent turns are connected sealingly to one another by the formation of a fold (8) located in the region of the spacer band (4). The helical cavity formed between the surface of the bundle (1) and the tubular sheathing (7) and limited by the spacer band (4) can subsequently be filled with corrosion-protection material, for example cement mortar. <IMAGE>
