PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of energy conversion by integrating a large number of solar cell elements onto a substrate in a monolithic manner so as to generate photo-voltage in the direction parallel with main surface of the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The five layers of a conductive film 42, an insulating film 52, a conductive film 34, an insulating film 53 and a conductive film 43 are formed between the N layers 7, 14 of the adjacent solar cell elements of a solar cell array, and striped conductive films 44, non-photoconductive insulating films 54 and conductive films 33 are shaped in succession while being adjoined to the P layes 1, 24 of the solar cell elements at both end surfaces. Negative charge is stored into the insulating films 52, 53 and positive charge into the insulating films 54 by applying negative pulse voltage to the conductive film 34 to the conductive film 42 and applying positive pulse voltage to the conductive films 33 to the conductive films 44, electric fields are generated into I layers 2, 23, and the rate of the I layers occupied in an incident light area is increased. Accordingly, the effect of light shielding by electrode groups 31 can be reduced, and the efficiency of energy conversion is largely increased. |
