<p>A foldable carton (21) suitable for storing, microwave cooking and serving of foods. The carton is formed from a one-piece paperboard sheet having a polygonal bottom panel (22), plurality of side and end panels (23, 24, 25, 26) foldably joined to the edges (33, 34, 35, 36) of the bottom panel (22) and extending completely around the periphery of the bottom panel (22). Side web assemblies (28, 29, 30, 31) foldably join the side and end panels (23, 24, 25, 26) together in a continuous band and include fold lines positioned to elevate the side and end panels (23, 24, 25, 26). Extension panels (38, 39, 40, 41) are foldably joined to an outer periphery of the side and end panels (23, 24, 25, 26), together with extension web assemblies (51, 52, 53, 54) that also form a continuous band. Relief openings (56, 57, 58, 59) are provided in the carton between the side web assemblies (28, 29, 30, 31) and the extension web assemblies (51, 52, 53, 54) in order to permit folding of the extension web panels (38, 39, 40, 41) to and from a vertical position and a position parallel to the bottom panel (22).</p> |
