PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst excellent in mechanical strength and catalytic capacity, by a method wherein compounds containing specific catalytic component elements are mixed, heated and concentrated to be formed into a clay like consistency and an org. solvent having a specific amount of a nitrogen-containing org. compound dissolved therein is mixed in the clay like mixture to mold and bake the resulting mixture. CONSTITUTION:Compounds containing catalytic component elements in such a ratio that the composition shown by formula is obtained are mixed to form a mixed solution or a slurry. In the formula, (a)-(j) show atomic numbers and, when (a) is 10, b is 0-10, c is 0-10, b+c is 1-10, d is 0.1-7, e is 0.01-3, f is 0.1-1, g is 1-15, h is 0-10, i is 0-4 and j is other than 0 and 33.2-104.5 which is a value determined from valencies of the aforesaid elements. The obtained solution or the slurry is concentrated or dried by heating to obtain a clay like or a powdery composition. In this composition, a solution of a nitrogen- containing org. compound in an org. solvent is kneaded so as to adjust the additional amount of said org. compound to 1-10wt% and the kneaded mixture is molded to be baked. |
