Shaft sealing ring

In the case of shaft sealing rings, the dirt or dust lip is integral with the sealing body. In the installed position, it is at a distance from the shaft to be sealed off, a gap thus being formed between it and the shaft and normal pressure thus prevailing in the annular space between the sealing lip and the dirt lip. However, dirt can penetrate into the annular space from outside through the gap. Although, if the dust lip rests in sealing contact with the shaft, sealing is achieved, the dust lip is subject to severe wear due to friction. The shaft sealing ring should thus seal off the annular space but be inexpensive to manufacture and the dirt lip should exhibit at most only slight wear. The dirt lip is provided on a separate sealing part to be connected to the sealing body. For this reason, the sealing part can be composed of a material which can absorb high abrasion forces largely without wear. The dirt lip can rest in sealing contact with the shaft and seal off the annular space from the outside. The shaft sealing ring is used to seal off shafts.
