In the case of a dishwashing machine, there are situated in a washing container (2) at three different height levels spray devices (8, 9, 10) and also dish racks (3, 4) between the spray devices. The spray devices can be alternately connected to a circulating pump (15) via a changeover valve (14). In order to keep the delivery rate and the operating pressure of the circulating pump approximately equal in the individual operating states, while retaining a simple design, the central spray device (9), which is arranged below the upper dish rack (3), is connected via a free jet nozzle arrangement (19, 20) to the associated pipe (12) and the spray device (8), which is arranged above the upper dish rack (3), is connected to the pipe (13) of the lowest spray device (10), which is arranged below the lower dish rack (4). <IMAGE>
