<p>The invention relates to a process for slowing down the rolling speed of the charge of the submunitions of a projectile having such a speed. It also relates to any projectile utilising such a process. According to the invention, a groove/driving band combination (10) is employed to impress upon the submunition charge (1) a rolling speed oriented in the direction opposite to the initial rolling speed of the projectile prior to ejection. According to a modified embodiment, a piston (9) is displaced in the course of the ejection within a tube (7); this piston (9) carries a driving band (10), while the tube (7) is internally grooved. According to a further variant, the submunition charge is disposed within a seating and the groove/driving band (or indentations) combination is formed at the location of this seating and of this casing, whether the driving band is integral with the casing or whether it is integral with the seating containing the charge. This variant is applicable especially when the submunition is a hollow charge, since in these circumstances the performance levels of the latter are no longer impaired by the high rolling speeds.
