PURPOSE:To prevent the distortion of an optical fiber by detecting the spinning tension of an optical fiber when the optical fiber is spun, controlling the temp. of a heating furnace based on the detection signal, and keeping the spinning tension constant. CONSTITUTION:The preform 2 is heated by the heating furnace 3, melted, and spun to obtain an optical fiber 4. The fiber is received by a capstan roller 10 through a pulley 11. The spinning tension of the optical fiber 4 is detected by a spinning tension detector 12 provided to the pulley 11. The detection signal is sent to a PID compensating circuit 13, and then sent to a furnace controller 14 as a compensation signal. When the tension is high, the temp. in the furnace 3 is raised by the control signal, and the temp. in the furnace 3 is lowered when the tension is low. As a result, the temp. of the furnace 3 is controlled so that the spinning tension of the optical fiber 4 is kept constant. |
