PURPOSE:To evaluate data which is output from a host device accurately by providing a device for transmitting 'no paper supply' report signal which simulates a 'no paper supply' report to a host device through an interface. CONSTITUTION:A 'no paper supply' signal control section 2 is installed which determines which signal is transmitted, either 'no paper supply' detection signal which is transmitted from a 'no paper supply' detector after the detection of an actual 'no paper supply' state or a simulated 'no paper supply' signal which is transmitted by operation of an operating panel 4. In a normal printing condition, the 'no paper supply' control section 2 detects a signal from the 'no paper supply' detector 3. In addition, the signal control section 2 outputs an operation signal from the operating panel 4 as a simulated 'no paper supply' signal, if a printer is in 'dumped state of a receiving buffer'. An interface drive section 1 connects a signal from the 'no paper supply' control section 2 to a host device. Consequently, it is possible to transmit a simulated 'no paper supply' signal when the receiving buffer is dumped in a state where printing paper is available. |
