PURPOSE:To draw a small-diameter steel wire without pickling for descaling by continuously passing the wire through a pipe, heating, cooling, and soaking the wire from the outside of the pipe, successively. CONSTITUTION:The pipe 2 is allowed to pierce a heating furnace 3, a cooling zone 4, and a soaking zone 5. A small-diameter steel wire 13a to be treated is delivered from a feeder 1, and rectilinearly traveled through the pipe 2. The steel wire 13a is finally heated to a specified temp. by a heater 7 in the heating furnace 3, and austenitized. The wire is then cooled by a forcedly circulated air held at a specified temp. in the cooling zone 4 to which a blower 8, a heater 9, a damper 10, and circulating pipes 11 and 12 are connected. The wire is held at an isothermal transformation temp. by a heater 14 in the soaking zone 5, and the patented steel wire 13b is wound on a winder 6. By this method, the oxygen partial pressure in the pipe 2 is decreased by the pyrolysis of org. matter deposited on the wire surface, scaling is reduced, and drawing can be carried out without pickling. |
