PURPOSE: To obtain a medicinal composition containing an aqueous extract from a plant belonging to the order of Malvales and useful for the treatment of rheumatic and psoriasis. CONSTITUTION: This water soluble antiallergic extract capable of inhibiting the formation of at least one kind selected from the group consisting of a histamine and a leucotriene in a living body, is obtained by finely crushing a plant selected from plants belonging to the order of Malvales, preferably family of Malvaceae, especially the genus of Malva, Althaeae and Lavatera, then extracting the plant by using water in an amount of the plant to water ratio of (5:100)-(1.0:0.5) range at a temperature of 4-100 deg.C. The extract is subject to a chromatography, and a fraction having a high activity evaluated as to the antiallergic activity, is separated. The active component is used as preparations such as a solution, a syrup, an injectable material, tablets, capsules and cream, and in the case of a form for an internal use, the active component is contained in an amount of giving 20-500mg/kg active component. |
