LATENT IMAGE ERASING METHOD FOR CHARGE HOLDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To easily and securely erase a latent image on the charge holding medium and to use the medium repeatedly by performing exposure by reverse voltage application. CONSTITUTION:A specific voltage is applied between a photosensitive body 1 and the charge holding medium from a power source 17 to perform the exposure. Consequently, minus charges are trapped and held on the insulating layer 1 of the medium 3. Then the polarity of the power source 17 is inverted and exposure is carried out with a specific exposure pattern to record charges with the opposite polarity on the insulating layer 11. Consequently, the latent image formed by the exposure is canceled and the potential on the insulating layer 11 becomes zero, so that the latent image is erased.
