摘要

PURPOSE:To easily and inexpensively obtain a liquid crystal oriented film having superior characteristics by using a polymer having ring structures in the side chains and electron attractive substituents in the rings. CONSTITUTION:A polymer having ring structures in the side chains and electron attractive substituents in the rings is used for a material of an oriented film. The ring structures and the electron attractive groups are incorporated into the material in order to provide an appropriate pretilt angle to a liquid crystal. The polymer may be either a copolymer or a mixture of polymers. By this constitution, a large and uniform pretilt angle is obtd. easily by rubbing a polymer film. Thus, a liquid crystal oriented film having superior characters is obtd. easily and inexpensively.
