PURPOSE:To enable a platen roller to be disposed in an upper area of a recording sheet containing part, prevent a recording sheet from being inserted into a wedge-shaped part and jamming a device, and make the device small in size by disposing a sensor for detecting the presence of the recording sheet downstream of a recording head in a recording sheet feed direction. CONSTITUTION:A sensor 5 is disposed downstream of a thermal head 1 in the feed direction of recording paper 3. When the recording paper 3 is moved up to the end of a front wall 4a of a recording paper containing part 4, it necessarily abuts against a platen roller 2 to be prevented from moving upwards. Then, the roll-form recording paper 3 abutted against the platen roller 2 is separated from the front wall 4a of the recording paper containing part by the counterclockwise rotation of the platen roller 2 to be returned to the containing part 4. In this manner, there is no possibility that the recording paper may be inserted into a wedge-form part to jam a device even if the decrease of a recording paper diameter results in an unstable movement. |
