A toy firearm for pneumatically firing light projectiles (P) may be made in the guise of a cross-bow, and comprises a fixed cylinder (26) having an axial tubular attachment (26A) which extends into an axially movable element (40). Element (40) includes a barrel portion (42) and a housing (44) for a magazine (10) of the projectiles. The element (40) is biassed by spring (56) to a forward position (not shown) in which a projectile is pushed upwardly from the magazine (10) into a position in front of the attachment (26A), and retraction of the element to the position shown causes the projectile to be pushed by the attachment into the barrel (42) for expulsion when a piston (24) is moved forwards in the cylinder (26) by means of a spring (28). A device (20) is provided for retracting the piston (24) to a primed position in which it is held by a detent (32), and the device (20) also retracts the element (40) to load the barrel (42) and engage a holding detent (50). Detent (50) is tripped by part (38) of device (20) at the end of the firing stroke. <IMAGE> |
