PURPOSE:To contrive to improve small turning performance in the range of low vehicle speeds by storing the locus through which a fixed point at the front end side of a vehicle passes, and thereby controlling the steered variables in anti-phase of rear wheels as required so that a fixed point on the rear end side falls inside the locus while the rear wheels are steered on the basis of an anti-phase steering in order to make a cornering radius small. CONSTITUTION:In a vehicle equipped with a rear wheel steering angle control section (d) which controls a variable rear wheel steering angle mechanism in such a way that an actual rear wheel steering angle is consistent with a target rear wheel steering angle, a main rear wheel steering angle operating section (e) is provided for a rear wheel steering angle target value setting section (c) in order that the rear wheel steering angle is operated by applying a specified steering angle ratio to the detected value of a front wheel steering angle. The vehicle is also provided with a ground co-ordinate computing section (f) with computes the ground co-ordinates of the center of gravity G of the vehicle and the ground co-ordinates of a given fixed point A in proximity to the front end point of the vehicle, and with a vehicle front end point locus memory section which stores the ground co-ordinates of the fixed point A every specified distance run. Based on the detected value of the front wheel steering angle and the locus data on the vehicle front end point, limited steered variables of a rear wheel steering angle is operated (h) in such a way that the over-hanged magnitude of a given fixed point B in proximity to the rear end of the vehicle is controlled so that the target value of the rear wheel steering angle is determined (i) based on the rear wheel steering angle and the limited steered variables of the rear wheel steering angle. |
