<p>An efficient method of high catalytic activity is proposed for the polymerization of a hydrocarbon monomer such as diene compounds, cyclic olefin compounds and acetylene derivatives by using a unique catalyst system composed of (A) a transition metal compound of the formula R<1>mMX<1>4-m, in which M is titanium, zirconium or hafnium, R<1> is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, X<1> is a halogen atom or alkoxy group and m is 0 to 4, such as cyclopentadienyl titanium trimethoxide, cyclopentadienyl titanium trichloride, di(cyclopentadienyl) zirconium dichloride and the like, and (B) an aluminoxane compound such as methyl aluminoxanes.</p> |
